Callum McGregor is likely to face Livingston tomorrow with an arm strapping.

The midfielder has played in all 28 of Celtic’s SPFL matches this season but suffered an unusual injury during the Scottish Cup win over St Johnstone at the weekend.

Shortly before Ryan Christie scored the only goal of the game McGregor’s left arm took the full force of a Nir Bitton clearance.

Neil Lennon told the Daily Record:

Callum is going to be in a plastic cast of some sort. Nir Bitton absolutely hammered the ball at him from five yards away. He came legging it over and said he needed a caffeine shot. He was feeling a little bit of discomfort in it this morning, but he should be ok.

As his appearance tally illustrates McGregor is a vital part of the Celtic midfield, playing almost exclusively in a central role this season alongside Scott Brown.

Lennon has a couple of defensive concerns tomorrow for the visit to Livingston with Jozo Simunovic almost certainly out and Kris Ajer picking up a thigh strain.

Those set-backs could result in a change of formation with Hatem Abd Elhamed and Jeremie Frimpong available after being among the substitutes against St Johnstone.
