Steven Naismith has responded to Kris Boyd’s claim that he would tell Ann Budge to stuff her 50% pay cut.

The Sky Sports pundit was scathing in his criticism of the Jambos after they announced massive cuts just one week after playing against St Mirren in the SPFL.

Running costs of £1.5m a month at Tynecastle can’t be continued with the club investing heavily in a new main stand, players and management over the last two years.

On one hand Boyd has a sound case after players joined Hearts due to the salary on offer but in unprecedented times Naismith has spelled out the reality of the situation facing players and the game in general.

The Hearts skipper told the Daily Record:

People saying they’d tell her to stuff it? Well ok, if that happens, numbers of people lose their jobs, the club struggles to survive depending on how long the situation goes on for.

What good is that for anybody involved? It’s no good for anyone. The people who love the club and love working for the club lose their jobs.

Scottish football potentially loses a big club that brings great experiences for games in the league and plays at a fantastic stadium. There’s no winner there.

When football does resume Hearts have got eight matches to overcome the four point gap that Hamilton hold over the Edinburgh side at the foot of the SPFL table.
