It’s less than a fortnight since close to 60,000 fans filled Celtic Park for the 5-0 win over St Mirren, when the ground will next be packed is anyone’s guess.

Through the summer and now the winter break supporters get acclimatised to being away for a little time but in spring visiting the stadium between London Road and the Gallowgate is usually a regular occurrence.

Titles are to be played for with Hampden Park, a few miles south offering the prospect of days in the sun with an old trophy being raised to the delight of fans half filling the ground.

Photographer Paul Wilson, a famous Celtic name of the seventies, has shared two images that capture the magic of the stadium and what is now known as the ‘fan experience’.

Everyone has their own routine, their own route, meeting points and memories.

Over the last decade the approaches to Celtic Park have been transformed, legends are on display behind both goals with the old car park and Kerrydale Street gentrified without completely losing its unique atmosphere.

Hopefully some new 9-in-a-row memories are around the corner but for now the images above make you appreciate something that we sometimes take for granted.
