Celtic fans weren’t slow to back Darrell Currie after he branded Neil Doncaster pathetic over his comments on SPFL telly coverage.

There is barely a supporter in the country that prefers Sky Sports over BT. Against Kris Boyd stumbling to pull statistics and sentences together on one channel you have lively debate, opinion and wind-ups from Chris Sutton, Ally McCoist and Michael Stewart on the other.

Over the last four years coverage from BT Sport has improved while Sky have jumped presenters from David ‘Autocue’ Tanner to Hayley McQueen and now onto Hayley McQueen who passed the baton onto Eilidh Barbour.

On Sky, fixtures tend to get 30 minutes of build up although last month’s match between Hamilton and Aberdeen was only given a 15 minute preview. Across at BT Sport they run a 30 minute magazine show covering all aspects of the SPFL ahead of a full 30 minute build up to their live fixtures.

The current five year broadcasting contract is completed at the end of this season with the SPFL announcing in November 2018 that Sky had come out on top with a new exclusive five year deal.

Despite that set back BT haven’t scaled back on their coverage of Scottish football with Doncaster about the only person in the land who believes that they haven’t shown ‘love’ to their productions of the Scottish game.
