New bhoy set for key role in derby clash

The last time Celtic went to Ibrox Greg Taylor was a Kilmarnock player.

As the transfer window was coming to a close there was intense speculation about him joining Celtic and possibly going straight into the side for his debut.

Moi Elyounoussi and Mortitz Bauer were brought in ahead of the derby fixture but with 48 hours remaining in the window Taylor remained at Rugby Park.

At Ibrox in September Celtic turned in an outstanding performance with Boli Bolingoli putting in his best display since moving from Rapid Vienna. Stand in left-back Jonny Hayes came off the bench to seal the victory with a late goal.

Amid the euphoria the following day Taylor signed for Celtic from Kilmarnock but it wasn’t until February that he nailed down a regular place at left-back.

On Sunday Celtic head to Ibrox in the driving seat to win the title but despite a 13-point advantage Taylor and his team-mates won’t take anything for granted. He told The Sun:

It doesn’t matter what the lead is you can’t afford to take your foot off the pedal at a club this size. It’s the next game and that means it’s the most important. You have to put on a performance every week.

We beat St Mirren on Saturday and now we want to get a positive result at Rangers. We are aware there is added impetus because of the size of the fixture but that’s a challenge we are all looking forward to.”

This time around Taylor seems certain to start with Bolingoli unlikely to make the 18 man squad stripped for action.
