Alan Brazil is moving into semi-retirement with his Breakfast Show on TalkSPORT.

For 20 years the former Scotland striker has been taking to the airwaves from 6-10am Monday to Friday with only the occasional break due to ‘illness’.

Despite his fondness for his busy social life he has been at the heart of the success of the radio station down the years.

Brazil has never been slow to support Celtic but has upset some hoops fans with his fondness for ‘Old Firm’ rivalry although he has revealed on air details of financial problems at Ibrox over the years.

For the bulk of his stint on air he has had a regular co-host including Mike Parry, Ronnie Irani and Graham Beecroft but in recent years he has had the likes of Ray Parlour, Ally McCoist and Sam Allardyce co-hosting on a daily basis.

The Mirror reports:

Brazil said: “After 20 years of early-morning starts, Monday to Friday, that’s me entering into semi-retirement with talkSPORT. From this week, I’ll only be assaulting the airwaves on Thursdays and Fridays.

“But I’ll still be hurting your eardrums in the build-up to the weekend football action – whenever it restarts – and around even more when the big events come along.”

Rod Stewart has been a regular guest on the show with Brazil revelling in tales of his younger self supporting Celtic as a kid at Holyrood where he was in the same year as Jim Kerr and other celebrities.
