Mark Wilson has picked seven Celtic players for his SPFL Team of the Season but has left out Fraser Forster and James Forrest from his XI.

Former Celt Scott Allan makes it into the side picked by the Brechin City boss with Allan McGregor in goals, Borna Barasic at left-back and Chris Burke on the right-wing. Other than that it is a clean sweep from Neil Lennon’s side.

Wilson’s current knowledge can be called into question with Ryan Christie picked to play on the left-wing- a position he hasn’t played in all season. Moi Elyounoussi and Forrest have been used in that position by the champions.

Forster or McGregor is a popular debate as to who is the best keeper but while the Ibrox man has had a solid season he hasn’t had an individual performance like Forster’s in the League Cup Final while the Celtic keeper has been crucial for spreading confidence throughout his defence.

Key to Wilson’s sides are two Celtic partnerships- Chris Jullien and Kris Ajer in central defence with Scott Brown and Callum McGregor in front in central midfield.

In The Sun he explains:

GK – Allan McGregor: I feel that over the season he’s pulled Rangers out a hole more time than Forster has for Celtic. I think with how fragile the Rangers defence has looked at times he’s been there to keep them in a lot of games

RB – Jeremie Frimpong:  The youngster has been outstanding in attack and defence all season and chipped in with a few goals.

CB – Kristoffer Ajer and Christopher Julien: The pair have struck up a decent partnership, conceding the fewest goals while adding a good few in attack.

LB – Borna Barasic: He’s the best left back in country. He’s improved his defending and supplies assists and is a threat at set pieces.

CM – Scott Brown and Callum McGregor: The duo have been unbelievably consistent over 50 games since the start of season. They’re the perfect partnership that keeps Celtic ticking and both have also been key contributors in the goal department.

RW – Chris Burke: The Kilmarnock man is having his best season for a number of years. He’s come up with an outstanding number of assists and crucial goals this season.

CAM – Scott Allan: Hibs man has been outstanding in the No10 role this year with a number of key assists and outstanding performances. His eye for a pass is up there with best in Scotland.

LW – Ryan Christie: Would be Player of the Year if not for Edouard. He had a great start to season and was unlucky to miss out through injury. Great volume of goals for a midfielder.

CF – Odsonne Edouard: He’s been the complete all round striker this year. Can play off the shoulder, can hold it up, can drop into hole and can score free kicks. He works hard for the team also with minimum fuss.

Celtic haven’t had a settled partnership down the left but there’s no way that Neil Lennon would swap Forster or Forrest for any player in Scotland.
