SPFL inform clubs of best case resumption date

SPFL clubs have been told not to expect any football before August.

A number of conference calls were staged at Hampden today as clubs prepared for a third weekend without any fixtures- or income.

Yesterday the SPFL were able to issue payments to all 42 member clubs but other than provide a little help with the March payroll that money won’t go very far.

Whether the current season is resumed or not is the big question but that seems unlikely to be answered until guidance is given from UEFA.

Last week, similar meetings took place with one SPFL chairman describing it as “underwhelming”.

It is hoped more clarity will forthcoming next week that will allow clubs to plan for the forthcoming campaign.

Hearts and Aberdeen have already gone public about their concerns over coping with six months without any meaningful income.

More clubs are starting to put season tickets on sale for next season but with uncertainty over the remaining eight fixtures for this term and fans unsure about their own employments positions it’s unlikely that there will be much uptake on next season’s sales.
