Celtic fans were quick to set the record straight after one Ibrox fan gloried in Graeme Souness’s brutal attack on Billy Stark back in 1987.
It was the first Glasgow derby of the season; Billy McNeill was back in charge of Celtic with Stark making his debut alongside Chris Morris and Andy Walker.
The former St Mirren and Aberdeen midfielder put Celtic in front in the first half with Souness losing the plot as he realised his side had little to offer in response.
Sensing an opportunity to inflict serious damage on an opponent the Ibrox player-manager charged full-on through the Celtic midfielder.
Even David Syme saw the severity of the attack, producing a red card to send Souness to the dressing room to listen in on the remainder of the match as the Celtic support celebrated a pivotal win.
That sort of foul was typical of Souness, around the same time he performed similar or worst attacks on Siggi Jonsson of Iceland and a Steaua Bucharest player.

For an example of how to inflict maximum damage with a perfectly legitimate tackle a google search of ‘Jozo Simunovic and Kenny Miller’ will come up with the perfect example.
