Ryan Christie has come up with an unlikely strike from Scott Brown as a nomination for Celtic’s Goal of the Season.

A Wednesday night home match against Hamilton Accies at the start of December doesn’t normally stick in the mind but as the night evolved it became hugely significant with the two Glasgow sides at the top of the table.

Rather than the expected goal-rush against the Accies Celtic failed to build on Christie’s 13th minute opener. Meanwhile at Pittodrie Steven Gerrard’s side had thrown away a two goal lead and were on level terms against Aberdeen.

That scenario would have edged Celtic two points in front at the top of the table but in 90th minute Accies equalised through Marios Ogkmpose.

Dejection set in around Celtic Park but one man wasn’t prepared to accept the set-back, three minutes into stoppage time the skipper conjured up a goal to deliver full points.

Chris Jullien scored celebrated winning goals against Lazio and in the League Cup Final, Olivier Ntcham scored late on in Rome to provide a win on Italian soil but looking back on the season so far Christie won’t forget the contribution of his skipper at home to Hamilton.

He told The Sun:

Ollie’s goal against Lazio in Rome was a brilliant moment — because of how important it was and the circumstances.

It was injury time, it was to win the game and he was so calm and collected. To finish with a chip like that at any time would have been special but to do it under that pressure against Lazio to put us into the knockouts was amazing.

Broony’s last-minute winner against Hamilton shouldn’t be overlooked either. We were all gutted when we lost the equaliser and for him to step up and score was huge.

I felt he should have won it last season for his winner at Kilmarnock. So maybe he will get it this year because it was a big moment for us.

Brown’s goal against Hamilton opened up a two point gap at the top, when Scottish football was suspended the gap had increased to 13.
