Today Daily Record readers are being warned that ‘SPFL clubs pushed closer to the brink as Nicola Sturgeon warned lock out plans are ‘catastrophic’’ by the award winning Keith Jackson.

Yesterday the same writer revealed ‘Scottish football facing financial ruin as clubs brace for doomsday scenario’ which suggests that he may have got wind of some bad news just around the corner.

It is quite a contrast to the March 17 exclusive that Stuart Gibson was about to plough millions into ‘Rangers’, the last Record readers heard of Gibbo he was refusing to answer phone calls from the Glasgow based publisher.

One Scottish club seems more exposed than any other to the unexpected suspension of the game. As he prepared the ground for his exit at the November AGM Dave King discussed the £10m funding gap for the Ibrox club to complete the current season. The South African based businessman quit without any fresh money being invested.

Almost alone, not a loan, in Europe there is no meaningful form of Financial Fair Play in Scottish football.

While most leagues have a system to keep clubs living within their means, in England Birmingham City had a points deduction for over spending, there is nothing in Scotland.

Since Dave King came into Ibrox five years ago a small fortune has been thrown into the club to try and stop Celtic with only reaching the Champions League group stage able to balance the books.

Douglas Park has found himself installed as chairman with the Lanarkshire based businessman well aware that Ibrox won’t be hosting Champions League football any time soon.

Keeping the catastrophic and doomsday headlines at bay will be the priority for the 71-year-old whose car sales and coach hire businesses are both on Lockdown.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
