The incredible double speak of Stewart Robertson has been fully exposed.

At lunchtime yesterday, as part of the SPFL board, the Ibrox Managing Director presented a proposal to complete the 2019/20 season by deciding the three lower divisions based on average points per game. There were no positional changes in any division with most clubs in The Championship still having 8 of their 36 fixtures left to play.

At 4pm yesterday a statement emerged from Ibrox dripping in sympathy for lower division clubs who are apparently on the brink of administration or worse.

A counter proposal was promised, today it emerged and to no-ones surprise the financial plight at Ibrox is the priority ahead of the fake concern shown 24 hours earlier for Montrose, Cowdenbeath and Annan Athletic. History shows that those clubs are on a firmer financial footing than Motherwell, Dundee, Hearts, Dunfermline and Livingston.

Rather than pick up the prize money for deciding to call a halt on the leagues as they stand the Ibrox club want to hand out interest free loans in the hope that the 2019/20 season can be resumed at some future date.

The Daily Record reports the new proposal as:

That the board of the company be authorised and instructed to make payment to the member clubs of the league of loans equal to the amount that such member clubs would become entitled to if the Scottish Football Leagues were completed and each member club’s position in the completed league was the same as the position in which that member club is presently.

Such loans to be provided without the payment of interest or fees to the league by the member clubs and to be made forthwith on the passing of this resolution and to continue to be available until the league determines that a final allocation of the payments to member clubs in respect of season 2019/2020 can be made.

On such determination by the league, member clubs shall be entitled to effect repayment by written confirmation to the league that the loan provided to that member club may be set against the equivalent amount of the repayment to be made to such member club on determination.”

Paying out ‘interest free loans’ would give the Ibrox club the second biggest pay-out, more than all of the clubs in the bottom two divisions combined.

It’s believed that the SPFL have still to pay out around £8m from the prize money pot of £25m for the season with the money coming in from sponsors and broadcasting deals.
