Frank McAvennie has spelled out the truth about the 2019/20 title debate- Ibrox fans are desperate for the SPFL to award the title to Celtic to fuel their paranoia.

So far this season Ibrox fans have watched Celtic lift the League Cup before their heroes were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Hearts after a spineless display at Tynecastle.

Winning three International Break Cups, two Transfer Window Trophies and the Dubai Break challenge don’t really amount to much when Celtic are poised to win 9-in-a-row for the second time.

At the turn of the year #goingfor55 was in full swing but after back to back defeats from Hearts and Hamilton reality kicked in as they looked across the city at Celtic stretching their lead at the top of the table from 2 to 13 points.

Almost as soon as football was suspended the cry went up for Null & Void but that was quickly dismissed when the realities were revealed.

In desperation the Ibrox support led by a few media cheerleaders are now looking for the SPFL to declare the season over and console themselves that Alfie, Tav, Hagi and Andy Halliday were on the verge of an incredible title comeback.

Addressing that issue McAvennie told The Sun:

Rangers will say they had a game in hand and still had to play Celtic twice but they were struggling for form and if football had continued I think the league would be over by now.

There wouldn’t have been any problems for Celtic — and there won’t be any if the league is restarted.

I want the final eight games to be played and so does everyone connected with Celtic but it probably suits Rangers if the league doesn’t restart as their fans would then say, ‘You never won it’.

It gives supporters something to shout about and start all the talk of not going for ten next season.
