Celtic have extended the deadline for season ticket holders to renew their tickets with an unlikely rallying call from Celtic View editor Paul Cuddihy.

At the start of March the club launched their season ticket renewal campaign with Scott Brown fronting ‘A Cause, A Culture, A Calling’.

Unfortunately with the onset of a global pandemic and the suspension of football on March 13 every aspect of life in this country has been turned on its head.

Earlier this week Celtic announced that many of their staff were being put on the Government’s Furlough Scheme which pays 80% of basic wages, Celtic will make up the remaining 20%.

Announcing the delayed deadline Cuddihy explains:

We all want to have some sort of normality back to our lives, and we are working hard here to ensure that we can be ready to start next season stronger together. However, we do, of course, recognise fully the real challenges many of you will be facing during this uncertain time and these unique circumstances.

As a Season Ticket holder you have supported the team and the Club through highs and lows, and we want you to be there again, standing with us next season.

That’s why we have now extended the renewal deadline from Friday, May 1 to Friday, May 29, for all Season Ticket holders, including Corporate and Premium.

We know that through teamwork and support for each other we will tackle the challenges we face and ensure that Celtic remains where it belongs.

Those sorts of comments would normally be issued by Chief Executive Peter Lawwell, but his name was missing from the 5.07pm announcement.

Football clubs throughout the world are facing a period of uncertainty with doubts over broadcasting deals, the transfer market and competing in European competitions.

Celtic still have four home matches to play this season, one against St Johnstone plus three post-split fixtures including a Glasgow derby. No date has been given for this season’s matches to be played or when the 2020/21 season will begin.

The SPFL Premiership will host a conference call on Wednesday to give an update on plans for this season to be concluded.
