Out of touch Mark Warburton has claimed that ‘there’s an argument in Scotland that says Celtic should be given the title’.

Perhaps the former city trader has been listening too much to the third hand chat of his old friends at Ibrox.

Neil Lennon wants to see the season resumed as does Peter Lawwell. Almost everyone inside football wants to see the 2019/20 season restart whenever it is safe to do so.

Celtic fans want to see their team win it on the park. They want to see their team turn on the style the way that they did at Celtic Park, Hampden and Ibrox to destroy Warburton’s credibility.

After winning a penalty shot-out the former city trader joined in #goingfor55 by signing Joey Barton, Nico Kranjcar, Pip Senderos and Joey Garner to join James Tavernier. Martyn Waghorn, Wes Foderingham and Andy Halliday.

With Brendan Rodgers in the Celtic dug out the first derby of the season ended in a 5-1 hoops win. At Hampden in the semi-final of the Betfred Cup the hoops won 1-0 then finished Warbo off with a 2-1 win at Ibrox. Three derby wins in less than four months, before Valentine Day the former city trader was emailed that he had resigned with more than two years left on his contract.

Bleating to the Daily Record he tried to represent ‘the honest Celtic fan’. Celtic fans already know what they think about this season and the managerial ability of the former city trader.

I know there’s an argument in Scotland that says Celtic should be given the title and put forward into next season’s qualifiers for the Champions League.

But think about that for a minute. We don’t even know when those qualifiers will take place. Also I believe you have to win a title. You can’t just be given it.

That’s not me speaking with my Rangers head on. You’ve got to win a title and I think any honest Celtic fan would agree.

Down here Liverpool need two more wins before they can rightfully call themselves champions. That’s why we have to finish the domestic programme. There has to be integrity to the competitions.

Obviously that will cause problems further down the line in terms of next season’s schedule but, without being rude, we’re going through a global pandemic. Thousands of people are dying.

So how can anyone expect next season to be the same as always? At some point football is going to have to feel a bit of pain.

If that means doing something radically different to shorten next season, starting it in November or December, then that’s what we have to do

Despite his alleged career as a city trader none of his colleagues in the City of London have ever shared any stories about his career before football management

Warbo is the only manager in the last 100 years to have lost a Scottish Cup Final to Hibs.
