Chris Sutton has taken a Dundee fan to task after the Dens Park side came into the spotlight by holding back on voting for the SPFL proposal to declare the current standings in the three bottom divisions as final.

The Premiership clubs voted in favour as did the lower two divisions but The Championship remains undecided with 7 votes for and 2 against. Dundee remain undecided and at least one of their supporters seems to be revelling in that situation.

They may be able to delay promotion for Dundee United but they can’t postpone it. Across the road Robbie Neilson’s side are 18 points ahead of the Dark Blues having played a game extra.

Holding other clubs’ hostage might give some fans a kick but their club is in no position to dictate to others but twice in the last 20 years Dundee have gone into administration, dumped on creditors then got on with life as usual.

Back in 2003 they went into administration with Fabrizio Ravinelli and Craig Burley on the pay-roll. Every game played by Dundee that season saw them cheating other clubs as well as creditors.

In October 2010 it was a similar story of over-stretching. The £300,000 fee paid for Leigh Griffiths was way more than they could afford while reported wages of £1,800/week was close to four times the average in that division.

Goodwill is running out fast on Dundee, it remains to be seen if they wish to cut off their nose to spite their table-topping neighbours across the road.
