Desperate Alex Rae has applauded the Scottish Rugby Union for declaring their season Null and Void in the hope that the SPFL follow suit.

The former Dundee and St Mirren manager has been one of the most persistent campaigners for a Null and Void verdict to deny Celtic their ninth successive title.

Every association in UEFA has decided to complete the current campaign when football resumes but that hasn’t prevented Rae from pushing his preferred option on his various media appearances.

The SRU made their decision on Monday which effects clubs such as Marr, Currie, Selkirk, Aberdeen Grammar and Jed Forrest where the game is effectively amateur.

At the start of this season Rae confidently predicted that the SPFL title would be heading for Ibrox with excitement reaching fever pitch at the end of 2019 with the gap at the top down to two points.

Since the winter break Celtic have added 11 points to their lead with Rae watching in dismay as his club lost points to Hearts, Hamilton and Kilmarnock with Alfredo Morelos still to score an SPFL goal in 2020.
