It brought Friday’s Super Scoreboard to a dramatic close!
Frank from Maryhill forced Alex Rae into his most uncomfortable moment in broadcasting as he pushed the Radio Clyde pundit on his constant asterisk and tainted title claims.
Rae likes to quote the views of his many friends, last night he mentioned the legendary Barca Bears of 1970, most folk thought they were banned from UEFA competitions in 1972.
After Frank’s initial question Rae predictably went round the houses quoting others that he never names but Frank wasn’t going away- he wasn’t even cut off.
Rae was forced into an uncomfortable place, a place that he kept quiet about when he was joined by Neil Lennon on the show last week.
Under pressure he admitted that he would put an asterisk against the 2019/20 SPFL Premiership champions.
Frank then went on to debate the five titles won by the old Rangers club using ineligible players, Rae included who had side contracts on top of those registered with the SFA and SPL. Those contracts were declared as disguised remuneration by the Supreme Court in July 2017, income tax, national insurance, interest and penalties are being collected.
