Celtic have been linked with an interest in Manchester City keeper Claudio Bravo, with the story originatining in Glasgow and finding its way to Chile and back through Chinese whispers!.

Goalkeeping is certainly one area of the club that needs addressed with Scott Bain the only recognised keeper under contract for next season.

Fraser Forster’s loan from Southampton has expired while Craig Gordon’s deal expires in a couple of weeks.

Celtic will have to take decisive action for that position with Forster clearly the first choice but also the most expensive with Southampton looking for a transfer fee for the 32-year-old who has two years left on his Premiership deal.

Bravo hasn’t been first choice at City since the arrival of Ederson at the Etihad in the summer of 2017 and is likely to be available this summer.

Bringing in a 37-year-old seems unlikely but picking up on a report from Chile the Daily Record claims:

Manager Neil Lennon is keen to hang on to Forster, but according to Chile’s the Times there are other goalkeepers on his shortlist.

The outlet claims that Ben Foster and Joe Hart are both possible options if Southampton block a permanent deal for Forster.

However, the most enticing option is Man City backup Claudio Bravo who would be available for a price as low as £1million.

The 37-year-old is a Champions League winner after his time at Barcelona, and is known for his passing skill and ability on the ball.

Pep Guardiola brought him to the Premier League in 2016 but after a difficult first season he’s made just seven league appearances in the three subsequent campaigns.

It seems that the Chilean report is based on a list of alternatives to Fraser Forster published by Glasgow Live which listed Bravo among English based keepers who could be available this summer!

Last season Conor Hazard and Ross Dohan spent time on loan at the Championship but neither has made a first team appearance for Celtic.
