Brendan Rodgers has taunted Andy Gray over Celtic’s 9-in-a-row success.

The former hoops boss made an appearance on beIN Sports where Gray regularly professes his love for all things Ibrox related.

Rodgers guided Celtic to titles number six and seven but with a dozen matches left to play last season jumped ship to Leicester on the eve of a difficult double-header against Hearts and Hibs.

The manner of his sharp exit has destroyed his Celtic legacy with supporters furious about the way that he left the club although a return to England was always on the cards.

Rodgers won’t ever win any Brownie points among Celtic fans but signed off in style with a reminder to Gray that his favourite club have finished up in second place again to the record-equalling hoops.

Covering the exchange, The Sun reports:

Rodgers discussed life at Leicester City, leaving Parkhead and coming close to title glory at Liverpool. But as the interview ended, the Northern Irishman teased ex-Gers striker Gray after Celts were crowned Premiership champions.

He joked: “Andy, I’ve just got to say. Listen, I thought it was great timing to join as well. As a Celtic man to a Rangers man – nine in a row!”

Smiling Gray couldn’t rush Rodgers off the video call quick enough, saying: “Get off! Get off! We’ve had enough!”

Despite the exit of their manager the Celtic squad beat Hearts and Hibs in the aftermath of his departure, clinching the Treble Treble with a 2-1 Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts at Hampden.
