Celtic have ordered their first team players back to Scotland as they prepare for some sort of resumption of football.

Neil Lennon’s squad held their last group training session on March 13 before the suspension of football kicked in.

Most players are still in the Glasgow area and reporting to Lennoxtown in twos to train individually but with group training set to be permitted from June 10 the hoops are preparing to step things up.

The Daily Record reports:

Celtic have ordered all their foreign players to return to Scotland no later than next week to begin preparations for Scottish football’s restart.

Record Sport understands eight of the current first team squad have returned to their respective homelands to stay with their families while the world has been placed on a lockdown.

But they have now been told to make travel plans to get back to Glasgow over the coming days and place themselves in self-isolation for a fortnight.

Tom Rogic and Kris Ajer are among the players that flew home once it became clear that there would be no quick resumption of football.

Current Government rules don’t require anyone arriving in the UK to go into self-isolation but that could change next month.

In Germany there is a full card of Bundesliga fixtures this weekend with England monitoring developments closely.

The SPFL wouldn’t be able to afford the level of testing required without fans paying in to watch matches but with the players being recalled Celtic are clearly making sure that they are prepared for any developments at home.
