Filip Benkovic has posted a teasing Instagram message that is bound to intigue Celtic fans.
The defender spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Celtic where he quickly formed an impressive partnership with Dedryck Boyata as the hoops progressed to the last 32 of the Europa League.
Benkovic was strongly linked with Celtic last summer and again in January but after a fruitless first half of the season reunited with Brendan Rodgers he went on loan to Bristol City.
The EPL will resume on June 17 which will be during the transfer window but there is no resume date for the EPL with the SPFL still planning to start the 2020/21 season at the beginning of August.
Chris Jullien and Kris Ajer were Celtic’s first choice central defensive pairing in the season just ended with the injury prone Jozo Simunovic as back up. Hatem Abd Elhamed and Nir Bitton were also drafted ito defence in emergencies.
No one can make any accurate forecast as to how the transfer market will operate but with so much uncertainty it seems highly unlikely that Celtic will match the £7m that they forked out for Jullien last June.
Ajer has been linked with leaving Celtic which could open the door for Benkovic who was linked with a move to Glasgow for over a year before his summer 2018 move to Leicester from Dinamo Zagreb for a reported fee of £16m.
