Last week Wes Foderingham was told that he was no longer required at Ibrox, thrown onto the 9-in-a-row scraphead alongside Andy Halliday and Jordan Rossiter.

It is a far cry from the giddy heights of 2015 when he was taken in by Mark Warburton’s fairlytale about playing in the Champions League.

Warbo never managed to see out a full season playing with the big boys in Scottish football while Fods, signed from Swindon Town has spent the last two seasons watching veteran Allan McGregor pick up runners-up gongs.

That first season in the top flight was something of an eye opener for Foderingham as he found himself twice losing five goals to Celtic.

Joey Barton, Nicky Kranjcar and Pip Senderos were in the starting XI for the first derby of the season but Foderingham was the centre of attention as Moussa Dembele smashed a hat-trick past him.

Later in the season the Celtic players took turns at sending the ball past the England hopeful with Scott Sinclair, Leigh Griffiths, Callum McGregor, Dedryck Boyata and Mikael Lustig scored in another 5-1 Demolition Derby.
