For five years John Bennett has been lurking in the background of the Blue Room, appointed as a non-executive director alongside Chris Graham who resigned in shame after one appearance in the Directors Box at Ibrox.

When Dave King walked away Bennett was promoted to vice-chairman with his first media appearance coming last night as he attempted to deflect attention away from the bungling round of interviews completed by Stewart Robertson on Thursday.

According to City Wire Bennett manages Henderson European Focus and Henderson European Selected Funds. Perhaps investors might want to look over the small print in their contracts.

Straight from the mouth of the vice chairman the Ibrox club has been the victims of an ORCHESTRATED MEDIA CAMPAIGN. You can call Neil Doncaster many things including architect and Founding Father of the 2012 Tribute Act but anyone thinking that he can orchestrate the media requires some fresh air from over-dosing on self-isolation.

Bennett then introduces two words to help explain his paranoia- sloganeering and electioneering. The self-entitlement that is in the Ibrox DNA shines through every sentence, the audacity of anyone playing by the rule book should never be tolerated.

2 minutes 50 seconds:

Rangers allege bullying and coercion. Rangers did not, from day one allege those things, Rangers received reports of such things and I believe that they have even been reported to the CEO of the SPFL himself.

So, you create this timeline, several weeks timeline which Rangers have to follow, and the other requisitions have to follow that process.

You then fill that time, that void by what was lets face it quite an orchestrated media campaign over the last week or two and you get in their words and slogans.

I actually see it as sloganeering and electioneering. That’s what is going on here, sloganeering and electioneering by the SPFL with those type of words, smoking gun etc etc etc.

Rangers were consistent, we wanted to present evidence. Evidence that asked serious questions, questions that we are not alone in putting.

Asking serious questions is opinion, it isn’t evidence. Putting a selected series of WhatsApp messages together and calling it a dossier isn’t evidence. No club has stated to their fans that they were bullied, in the boardrooms of professional sport you regularly hear conflicting views and opinions.

On Tuesday SPFL clubs will vote on whether to hold an independent investigation into the vote supported by over 80% of the clubs to decide the four divisions based on average points per game.
