Kris Ajer has ditched his long term agent just at the time that there is heightened speculation about his future.

Tore Pedersen took the teenager to Celtic where he signed a renewed contract in 2018 but over the last 12 months there has been a regular flow of speculation linking Ajer with a move away from Celtic.

If the player wants to leave he’ll find that Peter Lawwell won’t stand in the way of cashing in on an asset with well over £40m profit generated over the last two summers from the transfers of Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney.

Ajer has been a first pick throughout Neil Lennon’s time at the club although recent performances attracted some criticism with fans suspecting that he was beginning to believe the hype.

Pedersen was behind speculation at the start of March linking Ajer with a Celtic exit but as he told The Sun it is his own deal with the defender that has come to an end:

My contract with Kris expired this May. Why wasn’t it renewed? Kris must answer about his choice, if he wants to.

Did I want to renew? Yes of course. Kris is a brilliant guy, and a very good central defender. I have followed his career since he was 15 years old. I wish him all the best in the future.

Ajer is reported to have switched to the Dutch based agency SEG.
