Fraser Forster is neck and neck with Allan McGregor in a poll for Premiership Goalkeeper of the Year.

The award is based on individual votes rather than honours won and is being run on the SPFL website.

After this website voted for the English giant Forster was on 36% of the vote with the League Cup runner-up standing just one percentage point ahead. St Mirren’s Vaclav Hladky was a distant third with 7% of the votes cast.

Forster returned to Celtic on loan in the middle of January and was instantly installed as first choice keeper despite making just one EPL appearance in over a year.

Straight away he made a difference to the Celtic defence with Chris Jullien settling in quickly to justify his £7m transfer fee.

Forster was outstanding in the League Cup Final win in December with an incredible display topped off by a penalty save from Alfredo Morelos, since that match the Colombian’s form has nose dived with the season coming to an end with Celtic 13 points clear at the top of the table.

The on-loan Southampton keeper played in 28 SPFL Premiership matches, losing just 17 goals.
