Celtic in line for loan boost

The transfer window continues to be a case of glass half full, or half empty.

Southampton appear to be ready to give Fraser Forster another opportunity to St Mary’s but it seems that after one difficult season they have given up on Moi Elyounoussi who is under contract until 2023.

A foreign source with no real interest in a player always seems credible. Following less than 1,000 accounts on Twitter, Arilas Ould-Saada has 10,000 followers with probably a good few Celtic fans added to that list.

Last Autumn Elyounoussi was a key player as Celtic hit form. A goal-scoring wide player, not in the traditional dribbling and crossing mould but fast, direct, reliable and consistent.

No one is pretending that he is as important as Fraser Forster but there is a lack of options down the left with Jonny Hayes, Scott Sinclair and Lewis Morgan moving on over the last six months.

Next season is going to be bizarre. The season’s are out of sync, the transfer window is extended hand-over fixtures have to be completed as clubs discovered what the new norm is.

Real Betis will have their own ideas but Celtic can offer a platform for Elyounoussi to rediscover his Molde and Basel form. Southampton know that the hoops can be trusted to look after and develop players, perhaps Forster can join the Norwegian international for an extra feeling of home from home!
