Celtic HAVE made a contract offer for Craig Gordon to stay on for another year at the champions.

The 37-year-old was in the same position as Jonny Hayes and Jozo Simunovic but while they were released last weekend the veteran keeper has been offered a new deal.

Gordon only made six first team appearances last season and has to decide whether to remain at Celtic with no guarantees of game time or accept an offer to play regularly elsewhere.

St Mirren have made an offer for the former Sunderland keeper but there are likely to be other options although it’s unlikely that there will be an offer from Hearts with so much uncertainty around Tynecastle.

Covering the offer from Paisley, The Sun reports:

ST MIRREN have made a bold bid to sign Celtic keeper Craig Gordon.

Out-of-contract Gordon, 37, has been offered a new deal to stay at the Hoops but the Scotland goalie is considering his future away from Parkhead.

SunSport can exclusively reveal Buddies boss Jim Goodwin has made a strong pitch to lure Gordon to Paisley, with the promise of guaranteed first-team Premiership football.

Goodwin lost No1 Vaclav Hladky earlier this week. The Czech goalie rejected a new contract and decided to move on. Now an offer has been made to one-time £9million keeper Gordon, who is taking time to weigh up his options.

Gordon’s Celtic prospects are highly dependent on whether Fraser Forster returns to the club after spending the 2019/20 season on loan from Southampton.

Bringing Forster back is Neil Lennon’s preference but with two years left on his Southampton deal there are a number of factors to be cleared before another deal can be struck between the two clubs.
