Charlie Adam has pleaded with Steven Gerrard to get the chance to stop 10-in-a-row.
The midfielder has started eight Championship matches for Reading in the season about to resume but has his heart set on returning to Ibrox for a place in history.
Adam was a team-mate of Steven Gerrard for a season at Liverpool but the Anfield legend has resisted the opportunity to be reunited with the media friendly midfielder.
Adam started his career at Ibrox, flourishing under Paul le Guen but was sold to Blackpool in 2009 by Walter Smith for a reported fee of £500,000.
Covering his appearance on BBC Scotland’s ironically titled The Nine, the Daily Record reported Adam being asked on a return to Ibrox:
Listen, Rangers is a special place. Great club, great support. If that opportunity ever came around you could never turn it down. Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in Europe but I think there’s more to worry about for Rangers at the moment, having to stop Ten in a Row next season.
I saw the lads are back at training now and they’ll be preparing for that because the pressure is massive.
They’ve done a bit of business early, signing Hagi. It’ll be interesting to see in the next few weeks with Ross Wilson, the manager and the staff, what type of player they want to bring in.
Players with a little bit of experience, that have the know-how of playing at big club. That might turn the tables a little bit.
I’d be delighted for them to win that league next season, it’d be a great way to stop Ten in a Row but it’s going to be tough, Celtic are a great team, they’ve dominated for a number of years.
The pressure is on Rangers and it’s time to see who can handle it. It’ll be a good one to watch for next season, I’m sure.
Adam signed a one-year contract with Reading last summer.
