Steven Gerrard has lost out in a bid to bring Kemar Roofe to Ibrox on a year long loan.

Anderlecht rejected the offer for the striker that they paid Leeds United £5m for a year ago. In the season just finished the 27-year-old scored six goals.

Despite the contacts book of Ross Star Spotter Wilson and imaginative payment options the Belgian side have rejected the offer for Roofe to work alongside Mister Gerrard for a year.

Anderlecht Online reports:

TRANSFERS Anderlecht has received a formal offer from the Glasgow Rangers for Kemar Roofe. This is a season loan with a purchase option, this proposal was refused by the management of Anderlecht.

Interest in Roofe would suggest concerns about the Ibrox strike force which consists of Jermain Defoe who will be 38 in October and Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian has been missing from training over the last few days with the Ibrox medical team trying to get to the root of his issue.

Roofe is under contract with Anderlecht until May 2022.
