After four transfer windows that has brought 30 players to Ibrox Steven Gerrard is looking to add leaders to his squad.

That comment will be noted by James Tavernier who currently has the armband as well as Ryan Jack, Steve Davis and Allan McGregor who have captained teams during their careers.

Last summer as he went all out to stop 9-in-a-row Gerrard brought in Brandon Barker, Sheyi Ojo, Greg Stewart, Jordan Jones and Max Hastie. So far this year Ianis Hagi, Calvin Bassey and Jon McLaughlin have been snapped up to bolster his squad.

As well as losing two titles to Celtic Gerrard has failed badly in four domestic cup competitions, losing twice to Aberdeen in Glasgow, away to Hearts with his one final appearance ending in defeat to Celtic in the League Cup at Hampden.

Discussing the profile of further signings, the Liverpool hero told the Daily Record:

We’re looking to bring more leaders into the team and there’s many other things we can try but we believe the players have enough support to be prepared for whatever challenge is thrown at them.

As usual there has been no interest in signing any of Gerrard’s players with Andy Halliday, Wes Foderingham, Jason Holt and Jordan Rossiter all released after Ross Wilson was unable to get them out the door in January.
