Steven Gerrard has revealed that Alfredo Morelos has been missing from training as he puts his stars back to work at Murray Park.
The Colombian ace missed the first few days of training then was shown on a club video working out indoors at the state-on-the-art training centre.
Morelos is the only sellable asset in Gerrard’s squad but despite intensive lobbying by the Scottish media nothing concrete materialises. Foreign clubs are usually ‘keeping tabs’, ‘monitoring the situation’ or ‘considering an offer’ but as Gerrard admitted in May 2018 he was only aware of one offer of 3m euros.
With wages deferred and all income sources greatly reduced the last thing that Gerrard needs is to go into the new season with Jermain Defoe as his fittest striker.
The Liverpool legend told The Sun:
He’s back in the city but he’s spending some time with the medics at the moment. It’s not anything important but he‘ll spend a bit more time with the medical lads then hopefully he’ll be back training with us.
Morelos was sent off in the final match of 2019 then managed just one goal before the 2019/20 season was suspended in Marc.
As well as suspensions from UEFA and the SFA he was on the end of a club suspension for returning late from a trip to Colombia after being suspended for the Europa League tie away to Braga.
The former HJK Helsinki starlet is under contract at Ibrox until May 2023.
