Neil Lennon is working away on his goalkeeping dilemma.

Fraser Forster is wanted as his first choice keeper with talks on-going with Southampton. As he demonstrated by returning to training at Lennoxtown the former England keeper is keen for that to happen.

While Celtic chase Forster they remain in contact with Craig Gordon, ironically Forster’s replacement six years ago when £12m took him to Southampton.

Gordon has some big decisions to make. Hearts would probably be his preferred destination, St Mirren are keen and Celtic’s wages would top them all but the return of Forster would minimise his chances of first team football.

Lennon has to weigh up half a dozen scenarios with Scot Bain the only keeper at the club with first team appearances under his belt.

Speaking to the Daily Record about Gordon the Celtic boss said:

There’s no movement yet but talks are ongoing. The door is always open. I’d like to keep him, he’s a top professional and he handled himself really well last season.

Craig is absolute quality and we don’t know what will happen with Fraser as well. We’ll hopefully know more over the next few weeks.

With the transfer window expected to be extended to October 6 it could be a long summer of negotiations with the first competitive match six weeks away.
