The Daily Record is claiming that Celtic will hold talks with Joe Hart this week.

Craig Gordon’s confirmed departure closes one goalkeeping door on Neil Lennon who has never wavered from his desire to get Fraser Forster back whether it’s on loan or on a permanent basis.

Last week Hart refused a short-term deal with Burnley with the former England keeper linked with Celtic over the weekend.

Hart and Celtic can both use the speculation while negotiating elsewhere but, in a report, today by Keith Jackson the Record insists that discussions between the two parties will continue this week:

Celtic will start signing talks with former England keeper Joe Hart this week after Craig Gordon confirmed he’s played his last game for the club.

Record Sport revealed on Saturday that Hart will rocket to the top of Neil Lennon’s shopping list if a deal to get Fraser Forster back out of Southampton cannot be thrashed out this summer. Initial discussions between the Nine in a Row champions and the 33-year-old’s advisers have taken place with a second round
of negotiations due to take place within the next few days.

Celtic are also waiting for clarity on Forster’s future as Lennon weighs up his goalkeeping options for next season.

A senior Parkhead source confirmed: “There were talks last week with Hart’s people and there are further discussions planned to take place before the weekend. It has all been very positive so far but obviously a lot is going to depend on what Fraser’s situation is at Southampton.”

Forster’s loan deal expires tomorrow leaving Scott Bain as the only Celtic keeper with experience of first team football.

In 2017 Southampton gave Forster a five-year contract but a year ago he was demoted down to third choice which opened the door to his successful loan move to Celtic.
