Celtic fans had to have a double take when the club Twitter account published some player pictures from training at Lennoxtown today.
Pre-season pictures sometimes show players that have overindulged in the sun but one player seemed almost totally transformed in appearance. With the aid of some aggressive use of clippers and Bleach, Moritz Bauer was completely transformed.
His pre-Lockdown floppy hairstyle with Alice Band over his blonde locks has disappeared with at least one wishful fan imagining that the club had made their first summer signing.
Bauer joined towards the end of the summer transfer window with this loan from Stoke City expected to terminate next week.
The sudden emergence of Jeremy Frimpong limited the Austrian internationalist to just 13 appearances, the last one being on a windy day at Cumbernauld in February when Clyde were knocked out of the Scottish Cup.
With budgets being tightened it’s unlikely that Celtic will be making enquiries over a new loan deal for the 28-year-old.
Hatem Abd Elhamed’s return to fitness provides competition for Frimpong as Celtic gear up the start of the new campaign starting on August 1.
