Ewan Murray has claimed that the SPFL fixture list centres around the ‘Old Firm’ fixture.
Since Hearts were relegated to The Championship the Guardian’s golf reporter has made a number of angry tweets about the decision making in Scottish football.
This season, after the October break for international fixtures the SPFL has arranged the first Glasgow derby of the season for Saturday October 17.
When the SPFL’s default position is the Old Firm game must go here/can’t go there/has to be fixture X/cant be fixture Y, this distorts the competitive landscape for every other team. It happens every season. I’d say I was surprised clubs stand for this but…. ?????

It seems a fairly innocent decision, as innocent as any other fixture announced today with each club taking it in turn to host the opening derby fixture.
The schedule of matches begins on August 1 with five fixtures, Celtic’s flag day against Hamilton Accies has been put back a day for Sky Sports with a 4.30pm kick off.
With the EPL season finishing at the end of July the SPFL will be centre stage of Sky Sports coverage during August.
Murray’s team, Hearts will have to wait until October to get back into action with 27 matches planned for the Championship with the league winners promoted and play-off places to the next three teams.
