Vasilis Barkas has become Celtic’s first permanent deal of the summer- with five parties due a cut of the transfer fee.
With Celtic and AEK Athens agreeing terms to transfer the goalkeeper a number of ‘middle men’ negotiated the transfer through the final stage with all of them on a slice of the commission.
Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos has provided a brilliant Twitter diary of the deal with the final stages completed at lunchtime.

Agents involded in #Barkas transfer: 2 agents from Croatia had a mandate from #AEK to talk with #Celtic. A greek agency is involved also, a greek agent is with Barkas in Glasgow. Plus a law firm made the contracts. 5 people (maybe more) for a 6m. deal

International clearance should be the final stage of the deal with Celtic needing to register the signing with the SFA and SPFL.
The keeper has been playing for AEK Athens since mid June so should be able to go into the Celtic squad for the first match of the season, at home to Hamilton Accies on Sunday.
Barkas played against Olympiakos, losing 3-0 o July 19, with his Celtic debut eagerly awaited wearing the number one jersey.
