The SPFL has announced details for the Betfred Cup with Celtic going for a record equalling fifth successive trophy win.
Jock Steon’s side lifted the trophy in 1966, 1966, 1967, 1968, and 1969 with Neil Lennon’s side looking to repear that achievement in the season ahead.
There were doubts over whether the tournament would go ahead but with a sponsor and TV deal in place the SPFL are ensuring it goes ahead with the same format over a different timeline.

Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, 2020Quarter-finals
Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 December, 2020Semi-finals
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January, 2021Final
Sunday 28 February, 2021
Celtic lifted the 2019/20 trophy in spectacular fashion with a 1-0 victory over Steven Gerrard’s club last December to take their trophy winning run to 10 out of 10.
Dates have still to be announced for the Scottish Cup semis and final but with a February Final the Betfred Cup should be able to be played in front of a full house at Hampden.
The group stage, for clubs in the three lower divisions, will begin on October 6.
