Jack Hendry is closing in on a move to Oostende, posting a video clip of the city on his Instagram account.

The defender’s move to Melbourne City earlier this year was cut short by a knee injury but after rehabilitation at Lennoxtown he is close to a move to the Belgian Pro League.

Celtic paid Dundee a fee reported to be between £1.2 and £1.5m for the defender in January 2018 but his arrival coincided with Kris Ajer staking a claim for a place in central defence.

Hendry played mainly at right-back during the second half of the 2017/18 season but when Dedryk Boyata remained at the club with Filip Benkovic brought in it seemed that Brendan Rodgers had changed his mind on the ex-Dundee man who made three Scotland appearances in 2018.

Despite the departure of Jozo Simunovic during the summer there has been no suggestion of Hendry returning to favour with Stephen Welsh being brought into the squad alongside Kris Ajer and Chris Jullien.
