Celtic fans couldn’t resist jumping all over a claim that Everton had joined the race for Alfredo Morelos.
It’s difficult to know where to begin on that claim with no chance of Carlo Ancelotti looking at the Ibrox ace and no sign of the first bid or offer being made to create a race. On top of that the work permit regulations are far tighter for EPL clubs.
Already this week pages have been created and filled with alleged interest in Morelos from a club in Qatar and Napoli, a look under the bonnet reveals a clear desperation from Ibrox to get rid of Morelos.
Failure to score against Celtic in three years alongside seven red cards in 18 months under Steven Gerrard has ensured that speculation about Morelos never extends outwith Scotland.
At the weekend Gerrard revealed that his star striker was receiving medical treatment for a mystery ailment leaving Jermain Defoe as the only striker involved in pre-season training at Murray Park.
