On the verge of a potentially historic season Celtic have taken a cheeky dig at Mark Warburton and the Tribute Act.

Four years ago with Joey Barton and Nicky Kranjcar signed up for their first ever season in the top flight Warbo launched #goingfor55 with the Gullible all jumping on board only to finish the season in third place 39 points behind the runaway leaders.

Borrowing that phrase to promote the long running club newspaper the Celtic website reports:

THE Celtic View is the official voice of the nine-in-a-row champions, and we’re back and going for 55! The oldest weekly club magazine in football first hit the shelves on August 11, 1965, and in two weeks’ time will celebrate its 55th birthday.

The first issue of the 2020/21 season is out tomorrow, Wednesday, July 29, and we’re looking forward to the new campaign with a Premiership preview, looking at the teams who stand between Celtic and a 10th consecutive league title.

Despite the digital revolution killing off a number of publications, Q Magazine published for the last time today, The View seems to continue to be on the shelves albeit in much fewer outlets.

With the team on an unprecedented run of success the front covers have recorded all of the successes of recent times with special editions for 9-in-a-row and the Treble Treble.

As The View crashes through the 55 barrier one edition at some stage next season will become the most cherished since a certain print run in May 1967.
