Chris Jullien has given his vocal backing to the Black Lives Matter campaign.

The murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis jarred a nerve worldwide with sportsmen and women taking the cause into living-rooms across the globe.

In England the phrase BLACK LIVES MATTER appeared on the back of players shirts when the EPL resumed with players taking the knee before every match.

Before the matches against Nice and Lyon the Celtic players took the knee with Jullien telling the Daily Record that it is about much more than a 10 second gesture:

There is racism all over the world. We have to try our best to expose it to get rid of it once and for all. There’s a lot of people who just say the phrase, ‘Black Lives Matter’, but it’s about what they do in their house and in their lives.

We have to do our best to say out loud that it’s unacceptable and hopefully there can be progress made. We know it is not going to change overnight but that is why we continue to speak up.

Jullien will be back in his home city tonight facing up to Paris Saint Germain in the third of Celtic’s pre-season friendlies.

After playing against Nice and Lyon in quick succession facing the French champions will be a huge test for Neil Lennon’s squad, especially in defence.

The SPFL will leave it upto individual clubs whether their players take the knee when the league kicks off on the weekend of August 1-3.
