Chris Sutton isn’t impressed by the latest addition to the Ibrox trophy room- the Veolia vase.

A 2-0 win over Nice gave James Tavernier another winner’s medal to sit alongside his cherished going from the 2016 Petrofac Cup win over Peterhead.

While the other three teams used the competition to give 22 players the chance to get 90 minutes in their legs Steven Gerrard was determined to pick up a moral boosting trophy success.

The Murray Park starlets barely got a look in with Tav and Conor Goldson playing for 85 minutes before being replaced by Paterson and Mayo who both put in outstanding cameo roles.

With another trophy tucked away, one to be placed in front of the team picture there is less pressure on the Ibrox board to bring in new players.

Only Jon McLaughlin and Calvin Bassey have been added to last seasons flops with Andy Halliday, Wes Foderingham, Matt Polster, Sheyi Ojo and Florian Kamberi cleared out.
