Albian Ajeti is due to undergo a Celtic medical on Wednesday.

The claim was made by Anthony Joseph, following up on a report on Sunday that Celtic were involved in talks with West Ham to take the striker on a season long loan. Joseph is News Editor of Sky Sports News.

With Vassilis Barkas expected in Scotland on Tuesday Celtic appear to be stepping up their transfer activity with the SPFL season kicking off on Sunday.

Ajeti was a regular scorer for Basel before moving to London last summer, with the Swiss side he was a team-mate of Moi Elyounoussi.

Under Manuel Pellegrini and Davie Moyes he was restricted to nine substitute appearances in the EPL which failed to yield a single goal.

Odsonne Edouard is Celtic’s clear first choice striker but with two years left to run on his contract the club are likely to receive some offers for the prolific French u-21 striker.

Leigh Griffiths and Patryk Klimala featured in the 3-1 win over Hibs at Celtic Park today but with question marks over each of them signing Ajeti on a season long loan fives Neil Lennon another attacking option for a vital season.
