Alex Rae wants Steven Gerrard to bring Lewis Ferguson to Ibrox.

On the eve of facing Aberdeen at Pittodrie the Ibrox cheerleader has doubted the ability of Steve Davis, Ryan Jack, Greg Docherty, Scott Arfield, Joe Aribo and Juventus target Glen Kamara.

Ferguson Jnr was released from Murray Park in his early teens but after moving to Hamilton has made an impact at Aberdeen.

Two seasons under Derek McInnes has accelerated his development but neither the player or his Dad, former Rangers player Derek, seem in a rush to move to Ibrox.

Gerrard is fast developing a reputation for destroying careers with Lewis likely to attract offers from England if he continues to progress with the Dons where he is under contract until 2023.

Looking at the lack of transfer activity Rae told The Sun:

Rangers are strong in midfield, I’m not sure if Lewis would step straight into the team if he was signed right now but if you wait for a few years then there’s a real possibility that you won’t be able to afford him. He’ll only get better.

When I played against McArthur at Hamilton he had a lot of the nitty- gritty that I see in Lewis. The boy can put his foot in, is aggressive, has a good physical presence, and has a goal in him. Lewis has got a bit of devilment about him and I like that about him.

Since losing the 2019/20 title to Celtic Gerrard has added Jon McLaughlin, Calvin Bassey and Leon Balogun added to last season’s squad.
