Steven Gerrard looks like missing out on Florian Kamberi with the striker in Switzerland for talks with three clubs.

At the end of January the 25-year-old moved on loan to Ibrox to all the usual noise about his boyhood heroes and the most successful club ever to have won the Petrofac Cup.

Like Ianis Hagi Kamberi was part of the side that collapsed in the title race, picking up 17 points from 10 SPFL matches after a lively break in Dubai.

Jermain Defoe is facing at least a month out of action as he recovers from a hamstring injury but despite the lack of strikers The Sun expects Hibs man to move on elsewhere.

Kamberi annoyed Hibees supporters when he said it had been his dream to play for the Ibrox club, whose fans he declared the best in the world.

Gers were keen on another loan deal, but with just a year left on his contract, Hibs want to sell Kamberi now, rather than allow him to leave for free next summer.

He has been training with Jack Ross’ squad but has been left out of all their pre-season friendlies. Ross allowed him to fly home yesterday, with St Gallen, Young Boys and Basel all keen and Hibs hopeful he will move on.

After securing Jon McLaughlin and Calvin Bassey on free transfers yesterday Gerrard added Leon Balogun after he was released by Brighton.

The 32-year-old has signed a one year contract which suggests that funds are extremely limited for the season ahead.
