Celtic’s first team squad are ready to make up for lost time after being robbed of the acclaim that they were due last season.

Neil Lennon’s squad were on an incredible run of form as they focussed in on a historic Quadreble when Scotland went into Lockdown.

A devastating run of results- 12 wins and a draw in 13 domestic matches- was almost forgotten as a series of rows broke out across Scottish football.

Hearts have been the most vocal about the way that the season ended- the season in which they won 4 out of 30 SPFL matches- as they rallied against relegation to the Championship.

The Celtic squad spent their winter break in Dubai reading about how their dominance was about to be broken but were then forced into solo celebrations for equalling the 9-in-a-row record of Jock Stein’s famous squad.

After a month of training the hoops are back in action tomorrow against Nice with Scott Bain determined to make it another season of success.

He told the club website:

The boys are really chomping at the bit to get back into it, given the way last season ended. Right now we’re all really focused on getting back into it and excited to get on the pitch and start the season off as well as we possibly can.

We’ve been back for a few weeks now and it already feels back to normal, as if we’ve never been away. Everyone’s been really excited to be back and that’s made for a great atmosphere every day.

Even just getting out the house every day for several hours and having that routine back is something we all really appreciate.

Celtic arrived in France last night for matches against Nice (tomorrow), Lyon (Saturday) and Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday.
