Ibrox fans have gone into meltdown after it was revealed that Sports Direct would be selling their treasured Castore kit.

Back in April the club announced that a new retail deal was in the pipeline, when the novices from Castore came on the scene they were given heroes welcome with the Likely Lads from Liverpool saying everything that battle-bears wanted to hear.

At no stage did the club ever state that their long running issues with Sports Direct had been concluded but with a flood of positive messages from the Cliché Department of Castore memories of 9-in-a-row were blanked out as they speculated over their Castore kit which would be the envy of the sporting world.

Late this afternoon Sports Direct announced on Facebook that they would be selling the treasured kit from August 1 and the nightmare of big Mike returned. Surely, surely not. They couldn’t have been stung again. Who could be that gullible?

The social media cheerleaders were sent into action, questioning the wording from Sports Direct, surely a wind up. A club statement was promised as the pages of fury piled up on Fan Forums.

Hours passed by, no statement. Sales of the Castore kit have halted, some of the staunchest of bears have cancelled their orders.

And in the morning Sports Direct will still be hovering over the Blue Room of Dignity with Chairman Park still to give his first video interview let along explain why Mike Ashley is still at the centre of the club’s merchandise and retail operations.
