Steven Gerrard was given a reminder of the lack of quality he has at Murray Park this afternoon with Dundee United winning a friendly match 4-1.
Although it was labelled a B team match summer signing Calvin Bassey was include alongside Young McCrorie who is tipped to become Scotland’s greatest ever defender.
Summer 2019 signings Jordan Jones and Greg Stewart were also in the side confirming that they aren’t in Mister Gerrard’s top team plans.
While Celtic, Nice and Lyon used a full squad of 25 players at the Veolia Tournament Gerrard stuck rigidly to a trusted group of 15 players during both matches with the others making up the numbers.
An 18 man squad was kept back for tonight’s home friendly against Motherwell with the opening SPFL match just 10 days away.
Since last season ended Gerrard has added Bassey and Jon McLaughlin to his squad with Andy Halliday, Wes Foderingham, Jon Flanagan, Matt Polster, Sheyi Ojo, Florian Kamberi, Jason Holt and Jordan Rossiter.
