Antwerp midfielder Frank Boya has revealed that he snubbed a role in the Gerrard Revolution to remain in Belgium.

The 24-year-old impressed at Royal Mouscron last season, attracting interest as a free agent.

With Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Steve Davis, Joe Aribo, Ianis Hagi, Greg Docherty and Glen Kamara at the club it seems that Mister Gerrard is spoiled for choice when it comes to midfield aces but that didn’t prevent an offer being made to Boya.

Speaking to The Sun about his options the midfielder said:

The proof that I did well at Mouscron was the amount of offers I received from big clubs. I had no shortage of offers and Rangers and Werder Bremen were the most keen for me to join them.

So leaving Belgium could have been a solution, but I wanted my future to be settled quickly and none of the teams interested have as much ambitions as at Antwerp.

When a 24-year-old Cameroon internationalist becomes available on a free transfer there is bound to be interest, especially from the well-connected Ross Wilson.

The Ibrox star-spotter brought in Hagi during the January transfer window but doesn’t seem to have worked his magic on Boya.

Since losing the Premiership title to Celtic Gerrard has added Jon McLaughlin and Calvin Bassey to his squad.
